Slam City Skates X Parra

We are proud to announce a very limited edition collection designed for us by Piet “Parra” Janssen which coincides with us welcoming Parra to our rails. Piet’s illustration style and preferred colour palette are in a league of their own, and have a dedicated following. It is an honour to see the shop represented through Parra’s lens, and this series of products is one of our favourite collaborations to date…

We were excited to watch the screening process for the boards Piet Parra had designed for us, it was a treat to see the colour of each screen bring his creation to life, and the finished result was a thing of beauty whichever veneer it was placed upon. These decks briefly lit up our board wall but as soon as they were up, they sold just as quickly. Only a lucky few got their hands on this limited collaboration. It’s a trip seeing our shop name in the hand drawn font that birthed Piet’s brand from his early days making posters. Here’s a look at the boards and a hypnotic video of the process that went into creating them…

As well as this successful hardware injection Piet also designed some tees and a crew. One central graphic that ties the collection together features the playful Slam City Swords motto, accompanied by text reading Keepers of the Gates of Skate. The inspiration and thought process behind this graphic, and the whole collection is touched on and explained in our exclusive Piet Parra Interview over on our blog.

There is also another design further exploring the gatekeepers theme which features some of Piet’s beloved characters and arranges them in a religious assembly with reference to the Jesus tee that is intertwined with our story. This shirt is available in grey or white and at first glance looks like some of the graphics that captivated his young mind from the pages of R.A.D Magazine. Some accessories round out the collection, as well as stickers there is a cap with an embroidered dove…
