“There is Xerox on the insides of your eyelids” just arrived at Slam for the second time.. This limited edition booklet was created to accompany an amazing travelling exhibition. This consisted of a vast collection of skateboarding zines compiled from the early 80’s onwards. Rich Jacobs curated this show of his collection which took to the road. It visited London, Tokyo and New York, winning over crowds with it’s volume and the window into how beautiful this old form of communication was. Here is an example of what lurks inside…
Did you know that Neil Blender and Lance Mountain put out a zine called ‘Lump’? We didn’t either. Any of you interested in zines and skateboarding history need this in your life. As well as Lance and Neil this booklet contains the work of Gary S. Davis (Skate Fate), Tod Swank (Swank Zine), Jawn Dettman (Naughty Nomads), Bernie Mc Ginn (Tiki), Gavin & Corey O’ Brien, Chris Johanson (Karma Boarder), Dan Eastabrook (Contort), Rodger Bridges (Grim Ripper, Powerhouse, Dancing skeleton zines), Phil Esbenshade, Andy Jenkins (Bend), Phread Conrad (Gut Feel’n), Mark Gonzales, Jocko Weyland (Revenge Against Boredom) and more! It was first put out in the Summer of 2009. We were lucky enough to salvage some remaining copies from Givens Field Reference. They only made 1000 of these in the first place. This collectors item has a 2 colour cover which binds 64 black and white pages. It was printed in the USA using soybean inks. This is a perfect gift to yourself or the skateboarding fanatic closest to you. Add one to your basket and stare at some beautifully preserved history which shared information and connected scenes before the interpipe. Buy your copy HERE
