It’s that time of year again. This year the Downtown Showdown is set to take place in Paris. London’s finest Palace Skateboards have been invited again alongside Flip, Cliche and Element. After last years Amsterdam inspired ashtray creation from Palace head honcho Lev Tanju the bar has been raised again with what is in his own words “some really expensive luggage you can grind”. Here is a look at the luxury skate obstacle brought to you by the creative minds over at the Palace Skateboards think tank…

Most of the Palace camp have winged their way over to gay Paris so expect to see this luggage taking a beating from the likes of Chewy Cannon, Danny Brady, Rory Milanes and Lucien Clarke, we are hoping for some guest appearances from Charlie Young and Shawn Powers too. Flip have made a skateable Tricolour in homage to their surroundings. Cliche have referenced Parisian skate history by recreating the ponds found beneath the Eiffel tower and Element have taken inspiration from the tower itself. It promises to be an interesting weekend.

This the event is just 19 hours away, it will be kicking off on Saturday at 12.40 (CEST) which is an hour ahead of us. Set your alarm and tune back in with us tomorrow at 11.40 AM when the video below will be activated and you will be able to watch a live stream of the proceedings. The broadcast will be a live feed of the teams skating each other’s obstacles as well as interviews with long time Vans affiliates Tony Alva, Steve Caballero and Dustin Dollin. There will also be some time with Steve Van Doren the man who started it all in 1966. Those lucky enough to be there for the after party are going to get to see Black Moon, one of the best acts to ever come out of Brooklyn!
