Last weekend saw the adidas Skate Copa Tournament reach London.
What was planned was a two day event involving shop teams Country wide. Saturday involved a purpose built skate park near the Wayward Gallery. Shops all competed in a jam format. So many people where there. Teams from Note, Welcome, Bored, Consortium, Slugger, Ideal, Lost Art, Parlour, Endemic, Scene, Slam City Skates and a wild card team of competition winners skated on the day. Sunday saw the same teams pitted against each other in a 5-a-side football tournament. Here is a video of what went down on both days…
We are proud to report that the football tournament which took place on two pitches in Battersea under Brazilian heat saw Slam City Skates lift the trophy. We didn’t expect whilst warming up that we would return home with some silverware but we did. The final saw the 1-1 scoreline turn into 5 minutes of extra time against Parlour. Both teams defended with gritted teeth. It was a penalty shoot out and Neil Smith’s safe hands that sealed our victory…
Thanks to everyone involved who organised adidas Skate Copa Tournament and to all the shops and people that made it down. We had a great time.
